Hello my name is Steve Lewis I am a Mastermason and have been a Stonemason for 24 years. Originally from the United Kingdom now working and living in Ontario Canada. For Several years now I have been looking for books and on the web for information on Stonework. Finding very little information on Stone I decided to start this web site.

The idea behind the site is keeping the art alive less people are coming into the trade and the knowledge is slowly disappearing Before coming to Canada I had not built a fireplace for about 15 years. As in the UK we have in general stopped building fireplaces as most people have Gas central heating. Here in Canada the art of Dry Stone walling is virtually forgotten I have not yet met a Mason here who has ever built a Dry Stone wall. 

We have several Masons who have joined the site in the short time that it has been up and all are welcome. Feel free to send in your ideas or pictures on Stonework or email with any questions and we will get back to you.
